Shaykh Yusuf Badat

Shaykh Yusuf Badat was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He has studied under some great scholars, receiving several formal authorizations in the sacred sciences with top honors. His commitment to the sacred sciences began early in his life when Allah blessed him with the ability, by age 14, to complete the memorization of the Holy Quran. He completed a rigorous 6-year Alim course at Darul Uloom Zakariya, South Africa where he achieved his masters in the Islamic sciences, which included but was not limited to, language, exegesis (tafseer) and jurisprudence (fiqh). He earned authorizations in Hadith under the Grand Mufti of South Africa- Shaykh Radha-ul-Haq. Shaykh Yusuf Badat is an Ontario registered minister of religion & licensed marriage officer. He also holds a diploma in Network Administration from the Toronto School of Business.

He has served as Imam since 1999 at Masjid Anwarul Islam of Malton (Masjid Saliheen) in Mississauga, Canada. He is also been an instructor at the Toronto Shariah Program and the Uloom Program. Shaykh Yusuf Badat is the founder and director of Mathabah Foundation. He is an active executive member of the Canadian Council of Muslim Theologians CCMT.

Since 2005, Shaykh Yusuf Badat is serving as a teacher for Arabic, Islamic Studies, Quranic Studies and World Religions at the Islamic Foundation School. Shaykh Yusuf Badat is also the Imam and ‘Director of Religious Affairs’ at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto. He lives in Toronto with his wife and two children.

Shaykh Mohammed Badat

Imam Mohammed Bin Salim Badat was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He moved to the Ottawa area in 2000. While going to school, he completed his initial studies of the Qur’an at the local masjid in Toronto.

In 1989, he traveled to Gujarat, India where he enrolled in a traditional Islamic University. For the next 3 years he engaged himself in an intensive Quran study curriculum that comprised of the memorization of the Quran. Upon completion of the memorization of the Quran he traveled to South Africa where he was enrolled in an intensive religious educational program at Darul Uloom Zakariyah, consisting of the comprehensive study of the Arabic language including syntax, etymology, and literature, the study of Prophetic Traditions, the study of the translation, exegesis and elucidation of the Holy Qur’an, and the study of Islamic Jurisprudence. In recognition of his academic achievements at this institution, he has earned a masters degree in Islamic Theology and has received (ijazah) authorizations in Hadith under the Senior Mufti of South Africa, Sheikh Rada-ul-Haq.

After graduating in 1999, Imam Mohammed has been serving as the Imam and Director of Religious Affairs at the Islamic Society of Cumberland in Ottawa, Canada.

Imam Mohammed Badat is also an Ontario registered minister of religion & licenced marriage officer. He also holds a degree in Computer System Support Specialist from CompTIA (Computing Technoloiogy Industry Association).

Shaykh Ibrahim Kureshi

Mufti Ibrahim Kureshi was born in Canada in the city of Toronto where he completed his secular education. In 1987, he began his Islamic education when he went to Cornwall, Ontario to start his Hifz. Soon after, he moved to India to complete his Hifz and enroll in the ‘Alim program at the Jami’ah Al-’Uloom Al-Islamia in Dabhel, Gujarat. During this time he studied Qiraat, Hanafi fiqh, Usool-ul-fiqh, Arabic grammar and etymology under the guidance of some of the most prominent Shuyukh in India. After completing his ‘Alim course, he moved to South Africa where he was admitted into Madressah ‘Arabia Islamia in Azadville. There, he completed the one year Iftaa(Mufti) program and then moved back to Toronto, Canada to serve his local community. Mufti Ibrahim presently teaches, counsels, issues fatwas and delivers lectures in various Islamic institutions around Toronto and abroad.

Shaykh Nazim Mangera

Shaykh Nazim Mangera was raised in Toronto, Canada. At the young age of 13, the Shaykh went from Toronto, Canada to the Institute of Islamic Education in Dewsbury, England to complete the traditional memorization of the Qur’an and the Islamic scholar course. He excelled in his studies which lasted for nearly 11 years. In his final year of studies, he was tied for first place out of a class of 56 students.

During this period of 11 years, he studied and received Ijaazahs for all 10 major forms of Qur’anic recitation (Qir’aat), and all the major books of Hadith: Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, Nasa’i, Mishkaat, and Riyad-us-Saaliheen.

He also studied with qualified scholars all of the following major Islamic Sciences: Seerah, Tajweed, Nahw, Sarf, Adab, Fiqh, Mantiq, Tareekh, Hadith, Balagha, Aqeedah, Faraaidh, Tafseer, Usool-ul-Fiqh, Usool-ut-Tafseer, and Usool-ul-Hadith.

Since graduation, Shaykh Nazim has worked as a teacher of Islamic Studies and Arabic as well as an Imam at prestigious institutions in major North American cities like Toronto, Chicago, and Dallas. During the past few years, Shaykh Nazim initiated and spearheaded two important institutes: a Qur’anic school in Irving, Texas and a boarding school for Muslim females in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada.

He is a well-known speaker in community gatherings, universities, colleges, and Masjids where he has spoken on a wide range of interesting topics. Shaykh Nazim has delivered lectures at over 20 different venues in recent years. The Shaykh is a charismatic scholar and is actively involved in various interfaith initiatives. Alongside his involvement in a number of Islamic community activities, he is also a member of the local interfaith council.

Shaykh Nazim has a double Masters in Arabic and Islamic Studies. The Shaykh can converse fluently in four different languages. His four brothers are all Huffaz of the Quran and scholars of Islam Alhamdulillah.
Currently, Shaykh Nazim Mangera is the Imam at Masjid Noor in Buffalo, New York (www.isnf.org). The Shaykh is also currently in his second year of a two year Mufti course at the local seminary al-Madania Institute of Islamic Education.

One of the first places that Shaykh Nazim led Taraweeh prayers was Ottawa when there was only one Masjid in the entire city. The Shaykh is extremely happy to visit Ottawa again and delighted to share his research on the Fiqh of marriage with everybody which he spent a many number of hours to put together.
